ABOUT ME
Kathryn Hansz, LCSW
Kathryn Hansz, LCSW, is a seasoned and attachment-focused clinician specializing in complex trauma, sexual abuse, relationship addiction, and co-dependency. Through utilizing the IFS model and the non-dual teachings (including the practices of compassionate self-inquiry), Kathryn empowers and uplifts her clients toward authentic being and quiet joy. Additionally, she has a background in working with artists, musicians, creatives, and Highly Sensitive People (HSP).
Kathryn earned her Master's degree, with honors, from NYU Silver School of Social Work and is a level 3 trained Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapist. She is currently undergoing the certification process, which will be completed in the spring of 2025. Kathryn has received personal training from renowned experts such as Richard Schwartz, Ph. D.; Bessel VanderKolk, Ph. D.; Pamela Krause, LCSW; Jeanne Catanzaro, LCSW; Chris Burris, M.Ed, LMFT, LCMHCS; and Loch Kelly, MDiv, LCSW. Her work is also deeply influenced by her longtime mentor, Paige Kelly, LCSW.
Additionally, Kathryn has over 20 years of extensive mindfulness and non-dual meditation training with Adyashanti, Bonnie Myotai Treace of Hermitage Heart, Teah Strozer from San Francisco Zen Center, and Loch Kelly's Effortless Mindfulness teachings. She is currently a student of non-dual teachers Rupert Spira and Pamela Wilson and utilizes a compassion-based lens in all her interventions and treatment approaches.
Kathryn has worked in a variety of treatment settings including private practice, training institutes, community engagement agencies, youth programming, and 12-step recovery communities. Kathryn brings strong expertise in complex trauma, group work, couples work, sexuality, gender identity, transgender identity, anxiety, depression, addiction, and personality disorders.
Kathryn integrates a unique spiritual lens in her treatment and intervention planning that invites clients to widen their field of compassion not only toward themselves but also toward the smaller and larger worlds around them. Kathryn is passionate about doing this by incorporating the Internal Family Systems (IFS) method, as well as other somatic, relational, and intersubjective practices, into attachment-focused, psychodynamic trauma-focused treatment.
HEALING IS, INTIMACY
For me, therapy is all about making space to show up as we are, wherever we are. I seek to create space, for you and for me, and for us, to authentically get to know one other. In this relationship, healing has space to simply arise. It does not need to be chased. It does not need to be found. It is simply there, present, available, alive. We do not need to be fixed.

Access to healing in the relational field is about seeing and being seen. It's about hearing and being heard. It’s about loving and being loved -- from the deep grace of the unconditional. From this place, authentic healing has the capacity to liberate our burdens and transform how we relate to life and to ourselves. Healing is, intimacy.

I utilize a uniquely relational, spiritual, and attachment-focused approach in my clinical practice, encouraging the cultivation of genuine self-compassion and self-expression. I also specialize in trauma work and primarily utilize the Internal Family Systems (IFS) model in order to facilitate a process of self-healing. For more about IFS click here.
